My Pet Cat

Keeping cats or other pet animals is not as simple as most of us think. It is not just a matter of keeping them alive and healthy but more importantly to shower them with care, attention and genuine love. To put it bluntly, if you do not love animals, do not keep them at all. We do not want them to be mistreated or abandoned to fend for themselves on the streets as strays later on.
On the other hand, if you take care of them properly and treat them as your family members, you will be abundantly rewarded. Take the case of  Handsome, my pet cat which is a local tabby breed, is really loving and smart. I have taken care of it since it was a little kitten. It is now around 20 months old and weighs 4 kilogram’s. Handsome spends most of his time at home. It is a really easy-going and homely cat.

Relax at home the whole afternoon

Handsome is in a pensive mood, looking through the metal grille.
Handsome is now a matured and handsome  cat. Now, I have not heard of any rats running about in the ceiling of my house.  I also do not see any more  rat droppings  in my car porch and  in the compound of my house. He patrols outside my house every night. His presence must have frightened all the rats.
Every morning, Handsome “calls” me to wake up at the main door. When I hear his “miao miao”, I know it is time to wake up and every time I check the time, it is  around six a.m. I  open the door to let it inside and feed it some cat titbits. The routine has been like that every morning.
When it is time to go out in the evening, Handsome knows it. It keeps on mewing and places its paws against the door lock. I will open the door for him to go outside and he will stay outside until the following morning. Whenever I have the time, I check on him. I always find him lying underneath my car.

Handsome is asking me to open the door for him. I will definitely oblige since I know he needs to ease himself in my garden and after that he stays in the car porch. I know he will not venture far from my house.

After giving it a warm bath, Handsome is more than happy to do his part to lick and keep his body dry. Medicated shampoo is used to bathe him once a week.

When it is time to eat, I prepare some cooked fresh fish plus some rice for him. Sometime I add vitamin C to his meal so that it is nutritious and to keep him strong and healthy all the time. It is worth all my effort to keep Handsome as he has done his part to keep the rats at bay and at the same time he helps me  to destress when I can always pat him on my lap and he enjoys being petted and pampered as well.
