Catching A Long Eel ?

Sometimes something unexpected happened. I remember once Apollo standing just some distance away gave a loud shriek . I turned around and to my horror I saw a long dark slimy creature being fished out of the pool. At once the image of a snake whirled through my mind. I was literally dumbfounded. 
           It was with such great force that the snake-like creature was being fished out that it almost struck my head by a hair’s breath.  Apollo had thrown away the rod as well since he was too frightened, so to speak. The next moment I realized that he had taken flight without bothering me and also to find out what he had just caught. Was it an eel or a watery snake?  If Apollo were to stay put and remain calm that day, we would have found out what the creature was.  I was alone then and fear had also overwhelmed me. I also ran as fast as my legs could carry me. Until today I still could not figure out what it was.
