AES in reducing road accidents

Now that AES has been implemented but deadly road accidents still happen and I doubt it is effective in reducing them at all.
However, as far as I can see it is only effective in increasing the revenues of the AES operators at the expense of the motorists. Some unfortunate ones may have to fork out a hefty sum to settle the summons for exceeding the ridiculous common speed limit of 50 km per hour. The public have not been informed of the places where the AES cameras are installed. There seems to be an ulterior motive to make money out of the AES rather than saving lives. There is no transparency at all.
Speeding is not the only cause of accidents but it has been used as an easy way out for the use of AES. It has also greatly reduced the burden of the traffic policemen.
The next time when you are on the highway, pay attention to the tyres of the 10 wheelers, buses, lorries and other vehicles. It won’t be a surprise to see them as smooth as silk and yet they are still used on the road. They pose a real danger to other road users. But the irony is how many of us have been summoned because of “bald” tyres and faulty braking systems. Some even have their cars and motorcycles modified to run faster. The traffic enforcement units should issue summons not only to those without licenses and road taxes but those whose vehicles have defects as mentioned above.
At the end of the day it is the duty of every motorist and road user to be considerate and responsible on the road. It is better to educate them. I know it is easier said than done but I think that is still the best approach rather than to have an AES which acts like a booby trap to trap all and sundry. It only causes resentment and anger among the rakyat.
