Water

The weather has been exceptionally hot over the last few days. It is almost unbearable to go outside due to the scorching sun. Maybe it is due to global warming and our failure to take care of our Mother Earth.
It is only when the weather is dry like this we tend to think of water as an important resource. Without it you definitely cannot enjoy a cool bath and drink a cool glass of lemon juice to quench your thirst. We need to remember that we are three parts water. We are not going to survive if we lose one part of it. That is for sure.
We always take for granted that there is water coming out of the taps forever. We do not actually think of where it comes from and how it is treated and the process it has to go through before it reaches us as clean water, ready to be used.
In the initial stage, the raw water usually comes from the rivers and lakes.  So without doubt they are important sources of raw water and yet we treat them as dumping grounds. We dump all kinds of rubbish into our rivers, drains, basins and even lakes.  In order to clear all the rubbish, we need lots of money and in the end we have to bear and pay more for the cost of clearing and cleaning the rivers. Furthermore, water treatment plants are also costly to operate and maintain.
It is better late than never. We should start to conserve water and stop littering and dumping rubbish into the rivers and other water sources. It is our responsibility to keep them clean and if we do that, it also means that our health will not be compromised. Our processed water will continue to be cleaner and cheaper.
