Jungle Hideout

Among all the trees of the world, the rubber trees are the most significant; they always remind me of the sweet happy memories of my childhood times. I used to go into this small patch of jungle consisting mostly of rubber trees located not far from my house. I presume they were not like those grown in the plantation since they were not grown in rows but scattered here and there. Some had a thick foliage which blocked out the afternoon sun while some allowed some sunlight to shine through and thus making the condition in the jungle very cool and damp. The floor was covered with dead leaves and twigs and even branches. Some trees had their roots protruding out of the ground; some looked like an octopus standing on all eights or rather like the roots of the mangrove swamp. Thus it was not easy to get around and it was easy to trip and one of your legs might get stuck in the brownish peat soil. Sometimes both legs got stuck and you might even sink into the soil especially after a downpour. I happened to experience once but I was lucky to hold on one of the roots of the rubber tree which saved my life. But that did not deter me from having a great adventure with some of my buddies in my favourite hideout.
