Today I share with you about the mulberry tree bountiful
harvest from my yard. It is simply amazing to collect so many large clumps of
tiny fruit that resemble miniature clusters of grapes. The mulberry tree is
easy to plant and it grows well on loamy and well-drained soil. It also
provides a wonderful shade against the hot sun. The following are pictures of
the fruit and the mulberry tree.
The colour of the fruit varies from pink, red, black to white depending on the types of species. Once the fruit is ripe it is easy to pick as a slight shaking of the branches causes the berries to drop. The most important thing to bear in mind is to prune and remove unhealthy branches frequently and keep the height of the tree in check if you do not want to use a ladder to do the picking as the mulberry tree can easily grow to a height of over 35 feet.
The mulberry tree not only provides shade but the fruit can easily substitute raisins and make a tasty addition to any recipe requiring berries as in salads, toppings and delicious dessert. They can even be added to pancakes or muffins. Even you can take the fruit raw as your snacking after a rinse. The best part is its medicinal value. The entire plant including leaves, stem and fruit contain antioxidants which work against cell-damaging substances in your body. The sap can be used to treat ringworm. Tea made from the leaves is used for dysentry, weakness and difficulty in urinating.
With so many benefits to be derived from the mulberry tree, there are enough reasons that everyone should at least plant one mulberry tree for brightening up our yard or garden.
